Powering sustainable adhesives for woodworking businesses

Posted 05/09/2019 by Iñaki Sigler, Marketing Manager for Durable Assembly in EIMEA

Businesses have long recognized the need to create more sustainable products in order to meet consumer expectations on this issue, and there is now a good understanding that sustainability is not just the right thing to do but can also be a key business driver and differentiator.

Increased use of 'green labels' messaging

We're already seeing this in the some woodworking markets. For example, the double-digit growth in the design flooring industry is largely due to increased capacity in the green products market. The big players are already using 'green labels' messaging to differentiate themselves in large tender offers. To obtain these 'green labels’, manufacturers need to ensure that their working materials, including their high-performance adhesives, are all 'label-free' i.e. free of hazardous chemicals they would otherwise have to declare on their labels.

We predict that the fast-growing wooden furniture industry will soon follow suit, with manufacturers seeking competitive edge through highly durable furniture that has been made with 'label-free' materials.

Growth in wooden furniture market

Analysts at the market research company Technavio forecast that the global wooden furniture market will grow by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of almost 5% during the period 2018-2022. As one of the leading adhesive providers to the woodworking industry, we strive to be a true partner to our customers. We see our role as listening and understanding the challenges you face and then responding with innovative, sustainable solutions that help maximize your business efficiency.
